La Petite Mort

A collaboration with Ann Rutherford at Bradford College 2008. The form of the book, the meaning of language, existential beliefs and the sensuality of the paper have been our inspiration. The book has no cover, therefore it is uncovered, naked. Six pages of the book open from the left, six pages open from the right. It seems as if there are two books – one folding into the other. One set of images is of small dead creatures. The other set is of a naked orgasmic woman. Two artists have collaborated, two photographers, with two different styles.

There are two meanings in the title:
One little death: small elements of nature die.
One little death: of pleasure – affirms life.

It was produced in response to the exhibition From Book to Book, an exhibition of new artist books at Leeds City Art Gallery, March 2008.
