The Project to install outdoors at South Square, was, for me an opportunity to express some ideas about desperate times, hope and the possibilities of the human spirit.
The flowers were designed to deteriorate through weathering, although the ideas would remain visible and unbroken.
The proposal for the same gallery in 2015 arose from the same ideas. Seeds are set in the old flowers and the decay which seems so evident is part of the re-use of all old material. See "Something Rich and Strange" project.
